LENT at St. James
Wholy Wednesdays: The Return of the Prodigal Son
A Lenten Series, March 19 through April 9
It is considered by some to be the greatest short story ever told. It has been the inspiration of artists and musicians through the centuries. It continues to summarize the hope of salvation offered by God to all sinners who seek forgiveness. Therefore, Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son provides the perfect framework for our walk through the penitential season of Lent. Together, we will hear and see the story in new ways – through art and music, both classic and contemporary – and contemplate its meaning for us in our lives today.
The Wholy Wednesdays Schedule:

Come listen to and meditate on segments of Handel’s Messiah relating to Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, through the crucifixion and to the resurrection. We’ll meet at 9 for refreshments and fellowship, then begin at 9:30 with an opening liturgy before beginning a series of three-part reflections consisting of listening to a segment of the Messiah, silent meditation during which you may wander the campus, and re-grouping to share responses. A 30-minute silent lunch will be offered at noon by the Daughters of the King. To register or for more information, contact Spiritual Formation co-leader Pam Lewis at email@example.com or 936/520-8004 by noon, Monday, March 10. Donations to offset the cost of supplies, refreshments are appreciated.
